Guns. Guns. In Virginia, our legislature is exploring ways to allow individuals to purchase as many guns as they want, up from 12 per year to any outrageous number. Think about this. Do we want more guns during times of economic despair, lost jobs and homes, high levels of stress, high homicide rates, domestic violence, and more serial murders, reduced mental health care available, and declining participation in church and for some, a movement away from a belief in God. Does this make sense? Should we support others rather than gun manufacturers or lobbyists? Promote stronger faith? Become brothers and sisters that love and respect each other? Seek inner peace? Less intergroup conflict with more reconciliation and forgiveness? It is time for us to decide who we are as a people and a country and act accordingly!
